Hanging Out in NYC

Just got back from NYC and Jersey. What a weekend. Started off bad and got better as the days went by. First off, Thursday ... WHAT A MESS. After the security alert, all airports in the US were on high alert. Delays, cancelled flights, standbys, trouble retrieving checked baggage. The story goes on and on. Many people had to check in their toiletry items, otherwise, in the garbage can they went at the security checkpoint. It was hilarious since half of the people either forgot to watch the news or are oblivious to what is going on in the world. I got halfway to Newark Airport and ended up on an Amtrak train from DC to get there. I even got an unplanned tour of DC at 12:30 in the morning. Long story .. don't feel like blogging it. I'll share the details another time.

Anyways, the weekend in NYC was great. We met up with our friends Nikhil and Andi who brought along a party of four other friends (Cheryl & Steve, Maryann & Mike). Nik's cousin Ashish who lives in Upper West Side also found the time to hang out with us. Outlet mall Woodbury on Friday sucked ... but meals at Churrascaria Tribeca and Nobu Next Door made it that much better. Expensive but the quality of food was outstanding. Nothing in Toronto is even close. Hanging out on a rooftop bar on Fifth Avenue was pretty cool too. Also, if you are in NYC, make sure you check out Sapporo (7th & 49th in NYC) and the Peking Duck House (Closter, NJ). The peking duck was absolutely amazing. Thanks again to Steve's aunt.

Here are some pictures I took. I'll post more pics as friends starting sending them out.

Alexander's 2nd Bday

Check out the pictures of our nephew's 2nd birthday. Yes, he is obsessed with Barney. Not sure why but this dinosaur sure knows how to keep kids busy.

    Paved Driveway

Well, I wasn't around but when Janny got home, she found that the driveway was PAVED !! We thought that this would not happen till next year but I guess the builder is trying to finish off our area as quickly as they can. We are pretty sure that the driveway will sink since they should have let it settle for another year. Oh well .... what can you do ...

We are also trying to get the damn builder to clean up our roof. They left a bunch of building crap all over the roof and have yet to clean it up. Not sure what they are waiting for but xmas really is approaching. If you don't get the joke, move on...

Anyways, had lunch today at PF Changs over here in Richmond and it was great food ! If you are ever down in the US, you have got to try it. Tasty food at reasonable prices and nice portions. By the way, those ancient Chinese statues in the restaurant are not real stone. I got one of the guys over here to check it out. It's made of plaster.

Another hot day in Richmond today. It was like 50 degrees celsius ! I swear ! My skin started tanning as soon as I stepped outside. Man, is it hot ! Thank god for air conditioning.

    Back to TO tomorrow....
